The worlds highest & oldest sand dunes transformed into a verdant Oasis. Sesriem, Sossusvlei, Dune 45 & Deadvlei

The Highlight of our Namibian road trip was without doubt the Sand dunes. Had it not been for Corne’s amphibious 2wd Mercedes Benz Kompressor we would not have made it. Other 4wd vehicles got stuck! At times this car really believed it was a fish!!!
The Sesriem Canyon was filled with water, which I’m told is a rare sight as the plains surrounding the desert dunes are very thirsty. As you can imagine it doesn’t rain here in the desert very often.
When we reached the dunes we were incredibly lucky to witness bright colored green and even some yellow flowers around the dunes as the area was transformed into an Oasis. We spent one night in the beautiful Sossus Dune lodge, quite a splurge! but the sunset view was worth it!
